Hi Mary Ellen, I find myself here via the DTE forum. Food prices in the US are much lower than here in Canada but I wonder...and if I can be so bold to ask...how much was your pastured chicken? I purchased my first organic, locally grown, chicken from a farm about 1 mile from where I live for $4.75 per pound...yikes. It was so delicious that I won't eat store bought chicken anymore regardless of the price, I'll have to cut back elsewhere.
Hi Margaret, welcome! Local, pastured chicken usually runs about $4-$5 per pound in these parts. We are usually able to stretch a whole chicken for two meals. Then I use the bones to make broth.
