Our Jesse Tree ornaments
While we love decorating trees, we're careful to not let the season be all about lights and ornaments, shopping and presents. We want our children to know the real reason why we celebrate - the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This year, we're counting down to Christ's birth with a Jesse Tree. The ornaments placed daily on the tree starting at the beginning of Advent, represent the ancestors of Christ.
Our Jesse tree is a bit nontraditional in that we're using our dining room Christmas tree instead of a bare branch. Our ornament symbols came from a kit I purchased at a local Catholic bookstore a few years ago. But there are plenty of images available on-line for free. The ornaments are framed in cute, little paper frames from the wedding section of the Dollar Tree and hung with ribbon.
Merry CHRISTmas!
