After this weekend, I'm pretty sure I'm a few pounds heavier! We spent the weekend making cookies! And nothing says Christmas like your classic sugar cookie. I used the Pioneer Woman's Favorite Christmas Cookie recipe, but skipped the egg yolk wash. Though the glazed effect does look quite pretty!
Warm cookies out of the oven!
While the cookies were cooling, I whipped up a really quick frosting using my KitchenAid stand mixer. For the frosting, I mixed together 3 3/4 cups powdered sugar, 1/2 cup butter (softened), 4 tablespoons of milk and 1 teaspoon of vanilla.
I divided the frosting into three bowls and let the kids mix in the food coloring.
Then came the gooey, sticky, sweet part - frosting the cookies!
See my turquoise blue star!
It was delicious :)
We also made The Pioneer Woman's Chocolate Chip Cookies with Malted Milk. Instead of using regular chocolate chips, we used mint chocolate this time for a seasonal touch. With all the cookie baking going on, my Momma said it felt like Christmas all weekend long!
Hope your weekend was sweet!
